Frequently Asked Questions
Every guest arrives with a different story, different needs and different questions. If there's anything you'd like to know before deciding whether Pure Bliss is right for you, we'd love to hear from you.
Still have questions? We’d love to hear from you. Send us a request to connect about your personalized Pure Bliss Retreat in Costa Rica.
-
Pure Bliss may be for you if you're craving a chance to slow down, reconnect with yourself and experience Costa Rica in a way that feels intentional, supported and deeply nourishing.
Our guests come for many different reasons. You may be moving through a life transition, feeling ready for a reset, wanting to reconnect with your body or creativity, craving meaningful time for yourself, or simply longing to step away from everyday life and breathe a little deeper.
Pure Bliss is especially suited to people who value a balance of personalized guidance and independence. You'll have thoughtfully curated sessions and intimate shared experiences, while still having plenty of space to rest, explore, go to the beach and follow your own rhythm.
You don't need to be experienced in yoga, particularly spiritual, or arrive with something you need to “fix.” Curiosity, openness and a desire to give yourself this time are enough.
-
Pure Bliss may not be the right fit if you're looking for a large, highly social group retreat with a packed schedule from morning until night, a party-focused vacation, or a completely self-guided hotel stay.
Our approach is intimate, intentional and spacious. We value presence, kindness, respect for others and an openness to practices such as yoga, meditation, breathwork, self-reflection and mindful connection.
Pure Bliss is also a wellness retreat rather than medical or psychological treatment. If you have physical or mental health circumstances that may affect your ability to safely participate, please share this with us when you inquire so we can determine together whether the retreat is an appropriate fit.
-
Pure Bliss offers the best of both worlds: the personal attention and flexibility of a private retreat, woven together with select small-group experiences and meaningful connection.
Rather than following one rigid schedule with a large group, your retreat is thoughtfully shaped around your intentions. You'll enjoy personalized sessions and experiences alongside intimate shared practices such as yoga and meditation, with plenty of spacious time to rest, explore and simply be.
-
It's intentionally a blend of both.
Your retreat includes personalized attention and experiences created around you, while select practices may be shared with a small number of other Pure Bliss guests and local community.
This creates an intimate experience where you can connect when it feels good and retreat into your own space whenever you need it.
-
Pure Bliss is not exclusively for women. We welcome solo travelers as well as couples, friends, mothers and daughters, and other loved ones who feel aligned with the experience.
Some individual retreats, workshops or experiences may have a particular focus, including feminine embodiment or women's work, though the signature Pure Bliss retreat experience itself is not limited to women.
-
Not at all.
Some guests arrive during a meaningful life transition or with something specific they'd like support around. Others simply feel tired, disconnected or ready for a reset. And some are doing wonderfully and simply want beautiful, intentional time for themselves.
You don't need anything to be “wrong” to deserve a retreat.
-
Personalization is at the heart of Pure Bliss.
We'll learn about you, your intentions and what you're hoping to receive from your time here. Your retreat can then weave together the practices and experiences that feel most supportive for you, while still leaving plenty of room for spontaneity, rest and the natural rhythm of Costa Rica.
-
Depending on your retreat, your experience may include yoga, meditation, Conscious Connected Breathwork, pranayama, massage and bodywork, Thai Yoga Therapy, sound healing, mantra, embodied voice practices, cacao ceremony, feminine embodiment, intuitive practices, journaling, personal mentoring, nature experiences and other restorative practices.
Not every retreat includes every modality. Your experience is curated according to your intentions, retreat length and selected program.
-
No. Everything is an invitation.
We encourage you to listen to your body and honor what you need. There may be moments when joining a practice feels wonderful and others when an afternoon nap, beach walk or quiet time alone is exactly what your retreat needs.
Pure Bliss is designed to feel nourishing - not like another schedule you have to keep.
-
Absolutely. Many Pure Bliss guests travel to Costa Rica on their own.
One of the beautiful things about our retreat format is that you have the independence and personal attention of a solo retreat without necessarily feeling isolated. Shared practices and retreat moments offer opportunities for connection while your private space and free time allow you to follow your own rhythm.
-
Our intimate format makes it easy to connect naturally without the pressure of being part of a large group all day.
You'll have opportunities to share yoga, meals, conversations and selected experiences with others while still having plenty of time to yourself.
-
Yes. Pure Bliss can be a beautiful experience to share with someone you love.
We welcome solo travelers, couples, friends and mother-daughter pairs, and can thoughtfully incorporate both individual and shared experiences into your retreat.
-
Our practices are welcoming to a range of experience levels and can be adapted to meet you where you are. You don't need to be flexible, experienced at meditation or familiar with breathwork to come to Pure Bliss.
Curiosity and a willingness to slow down are enough.
-
Our yoga practices are generally accessible, mindful and designed to complement the restorative nature of the retreat.
Depending on the day, practices may include gentle or flowing movement, breathwork, meditation and restorative elements. You are always encouraged to modify and listen to your body.
-
Please tell us before booking so we can understand your needs and determine whether the retreat and planned activities can be safely adapted for you.
Many practices can be modified, but your safety and comfort always come first.

Pure Bliss is hosted at Dragonfly Retreat Center in Punta Uva on Costa Rica's lush southern Caribbean coast, near Puerto Viejo.
Your accommodation, retreat practices, meals and many of your personalized experiences unfold within one intimate tropical setting.
-
Accommodation arrangements depend on whether you're traveling solo or with someone and on the retreat option you select.
Solo guests can enjoy their own private accommodation, while couples, friends or family members may choose to share an appropriate space. We'll explain the available options when you inquire.
-
Select accommodations at Dragonfly offer air conditioning, while others embrace naturally ventilated tropical living.
If air conditioning is important to you, please let us know when you inquire so we can share the appropriate available options for your dates.
-
Yes. Wi-Fi is available in your room and on-site including our private beach, so you can stay connected when you need to.
That said, many guests find that Pure Bliss is a wonderful opportunity to spend a little less time online and a little more time present.
-
One of the beautiful things about Costa Rica's southern Caribbean coast is its warm, tropical climate throughout the year. Expect lush rainforest, warm Caribbean water, sunshine, occasional humidity and occasional tropical showers, all part of what keeps this corner of Costa Rica so incredibly green.
Unlike Costa Rica's Pacific coast, the Caribbean doesn't follow the same clearly defined dry and rainy seasons. Weather here can be wonderfully local and change quickly: a tropical downpour may be followed by brilliant sunshine and a beautiful beach afternoon.
Historically, February through April often brings lovely stretches of weather, while September and October are also known for periods of calmer, sunnier Caribbean conditions. Rain can happen at any time of year, however, and no month can guarantee completely dry weather.
We recommend coming prepared for the tropics: lightweight clothing, sandals, sun protection, a light rain layer and an openness to letting the jungle set the rhythm. Some of the most magical Costa Rica mornings begin after a night of tropical rain.
-
Food is an important part of your retreat experience. We believe that nourishing the body is just as essential as nourishing the mind and spirit, and each meal is thoughtfully prepared to support your wellbeing throughout your stay.
Your retreat includes two generous meals each day.
Each morning begins with a fresh breakfast or brunch prepared by our onsite retreat team, with both vegetarian and vegan options available. Coffee and tea are also included.
After your evening yoga practice, you’ll return to the pool area to receive a wholesome home-cooked dinner, lovingly prepared by our personal retreat chef and delivered fresh each evening. Our standard dinner menu is vegan, made with fresh local ingredients and organic produce whenever possible, with gluten-free options always available upon request. Guests who would like to include fresh local seafood or organic animal protein may choose our Chef’s Signature Upgrade for an additional fee.
Rather than formal fine dining, our meals are intentionally authentic, comforting, and deeply nourishing. Think vibrant curries, colorful salads, seasonal vegetables, hearty quiches, nourishing soups, and our guest-favorite vegan lasagna. Every meal is prepared with care and the intention of helping you feel grounded, energized, and well cared for.
-
We can accommodate many common dietary needs, including gluten-free and vegan diets.
Please tell us about allergies, intolerances or other dietary requirements before booking so we can confirm what can be safely accommodated.

Yes, intentionally.
Pure Bliss is not designed to fill every hour of your day. Spaciousness is part of the experience.
You'll have time to rest, swim, journal, read, walk the beach, explore the area or simply do absolutely nothing.
-
Yes. Punta Uva and the southern Caribbean coast are full of beautiful beaches, wildlife, restaurants and places to explore.
Depending on your retreat schedule, there will be free time when you can enjoy the surrounding area at your own pace. We are also very happy to arrange local tours and excursions with our trusted guides.
-
Definitely, and many guests do.
If you're traveling a long way to Costa Rica, adding a few days before or after your retreat can be a beautiful way to explore more of the country. We're happy to share suggestions for extending your trip.
-
Most international guests fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) near San José.
From San José, you can continue to the Caribbean coast by shared shuttle, private transfer or a short domestic flight to Limón followed by ground transportation to Punta Uva.
We'll send detailed arrival and transportation guidance before your retreat.
-
There are several options depending on your schedule, budget and travel style.
Many guests choose a shared or private shuttle directly from the San José area. Another convenient option is a domestic flight from San José to Limón followed by a private transfer to Dragonfly.
We'll help you understand the options so you can choose the journey that feels easiest for you.
-
You generally don't need a rental car for the retreat itself, and local taxis and transportation are readily available when needed.
If you're planning to explore Costa Rica independently before or after Pure Bliss, you may enjoy having one, but it isn't necessary for participating in your retreat.
-
We recommend planning your international travel so you have comfortable time for the journey to Punta Uva rather than rushing immediately from your flight into the retreat.
Your welcome information will include your specific check-in window and transportation recommendations. We often offer the option to add an extra night for guests arriving later in the day, allowing you to settle in and rest before your Pure Bliss retreat programming begins.
-
This depends on what you're looking for and how much time you have.
Our signature Pure Bliss is an 8-day retreat. A shorter retreat can offer a beautiful reset, while a longer stay gives you more time to settle in, receive your personalized experiences and truly move into the slower rhythm of Costa Rica.
If you're unsure, tell us what you're hoping to receive and we'll recommend the retreat length that makes the most sense for you.
-
We recommend reaching out as soon as you know the general dates you'd like to travel, particularly during Costa Rica's popular winter and spring travel season.
Pure Bliss is intentionally intimate and accommodation at Dragonfly is limited, so certain dates can fill well in advance. We are generally very responsive to requests as they come in so you can expect a reply same day and we can let you know what availability we have in your desired window.
-
Start by sending us an inquiry with your preferred dates and a little about what you're looking for.
We'll confirm availability, help you choose the retreat and accommodation option that feels right, and send you the details for securing your reservation.
-
Yes. A 50% deposit is required to secure your retreat dates and accommodation.
Your booking information will clearly outline the deposit, remaining balance and payment timeline before you commit. Generally, the full balance is due 30 days prior to your retreat.
-
Because Pure Bliss retreats are highly personalized and accommodation and practitioners are reserved specifically for your stay, retreat payments are non-refundable.
When eligible under your booking terms, retreats may be rescheduled within the permitted timeframe and subject to the applicable rescheduling conditions and fee.
You'll receive the complete booking and cancellation terms before making your reservation.
-
Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of participation in Pure Bliss.
Your policy should be appropriate for your individual trip and ideally include coverage for emergency medical care, medical evacuation and repatriation, trip cancellation or interruption, delays, missed connections and lost or delayed baggage.
Because coverage varies considerably between providers and policies, you're responsible for choosing a policy that meets your needs and understanding its terms and exclusions.
-
Costa Rica welcomes travelers from around the world, including many solo visitors.
As with travel anywhere, we recommend using normal precautions and following the arrival and transportation guidance we'll provide before your retreat.
If you're nervous about traveling alone, please tell us. We're happy to help make your arrival feel as simple and supported as possible.
-
Please let us know immediately if you feel unwell. We'll help you determine the appropriate next steps and assist you in accessing local medical care, emergency services and doctors on call when necessary.
This is another reason we require guests to travel with appropriate medical and travel insurance.
-
No. Pure Bliss is a wellness and personal-development retreat and is not a substitute for medical care, psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment or other licensed healthcare.
If you are currently receiving medical or mental-health treatment, we encourage you to speak with your qualified healthcare professional about whether participating in a retreat is appropriate for you.
-
For the majority of travelers coming from North America and Europe, there are currently no special vaccinations required to enter the country. You’ll simply need:
• A valid passport
• Your return or onward flight information
Costa Rica is very accustomed to tourism and wellness travel, and guests typically find the arrival process smooth and relaxed.
The only exception is for travelers arriving from certain countries (i.e. some countries in Africa, Brazil and Colombia) where a Yellow Fever vaccine may be required, though this does not apply to most of our guests.
-
Pure Bliss is primarily designed for adults aged 18 and over.
We may welcome younger guests when attending privately with a parent or guardian, for example, for a mother-daughter retreat, depending on their age, the retreat program and the experiences included.
If you're considering Pure Bliss with a younger family member, please reach out and we'll help you determine whether the experience is a good fit.
-
Pure Bliss Retreats are personalized to you, so pricing varies depending on the length of your stay, your accommodation and the experiences you choose to include.
Most Pure Bliss Retreats range from $2,500–$4,500, with your final retreat investment based on the length of your stay, accommodation and the experience we create for you. Your retreat includes private accommodation, nourishing plant-based meals and your personalized Pure Bliss program, with the option to add additional healing sessions, bodywork and experiences depending on what feels right for you.
Once we know a little about what you’re looking for and your preferred dates, we’ll personally share the available options and help you create a retreat that feels aligned for you.
